We know healthcare. Our CEO started developing web based software for healthcare in 1995, and led the development of some of the first web applications in the pharmaceutical industry. Our company started out as an advanced-informatics research and development group within one of the largest teaching hospitals in the nation. Collectively, we have delivered software – from design to implementation – for applied clinical use as well as consumer-directed healthcare, insurance, clinical trials, clinical research and academic collaboration in the life sciences. Our staff includes physicians and policy experts, as well as top-tier software developers and interaction designers with years of healthcare experience.
We know software. When it comes to enterprise development, we wrote the book (actually, several). Our developers are deeply involved in the technical and open source communities, bringing us access to the latest technologies. And since software development is about more than writing code, we developed Clickframes, an open-source framework for defining software requirements, collaborating with end users, and accelerating development and testing. What We Do
Web Application Design & Development
We specialize in developing complex, highly usable web applications for use on the public Internet or on a corporate intranet. We can come into a project at any point, but we like to start early, helping you work through the design process. (Learn more about our user-centered research & design process.) Then we can use Clickframes to build an application on an appropriate technology platform, based on your organization’s needs. Then we work with you and your user community to iterate the design until your goals are met.
HIPAA Expertise
We are deeply familiar with the HIPAA Security and Privacy Rules and all that they imply. We can make sure your application is compliant, both in terms of what it does and how it does it. Staying HIPAA compliant doesn’t mean that you have to abandon flexibility or make an outsize investment. We also have plenty of experience working with IT departments, compliance offices and security auditors to ensure all regulatory needs are fully met. We even have a former CMS eHealth standards official on staff.
Text Messaging, Email, Mobile, Web and Social Media
People today just log into a web site—information is everywhere. That’s why we design and build applications that incorporate email, text messaging and mobile technologies where appropriate. We’ve helped customers use text messaging to engage with research subjects, and email for everything from supporting academic collaboration to enabling daily, HIPAA-compliant clinical data collection over the Internet.
Healthcare Standards
Need to deal with medications? Then you’ll probably need a mix of RxNorm, NDC codes and maybe some X.10 extracts – or an NCPDP SCRIPT implementation. Working with Personal Health Records? A CCD or a CCR may be in the cards. Need a problem list that meets the standards for Meaningful Use? SNOMED-CT. You get the idea – we know a lot of buzzwords. But we know the technologies too. Java, .NET and PHP – and Oracle, SQL Server and NoSQL.
Thanks to the Clickframes tools we’ve developed, it’s easy for us to stay at the cutting edge of enterprise development. We deploy applications on Java Enterprise Edition 5.0 and 6.0, as well as, where appropriate, .NET and PHP. We can integrate with Oracle, MySQL and SQL Server, or use modern NoSQL data stores for applications that need simplicity and speed. We can develop and deploy SOAP web services, build REST services for web APIs and wrap XML around just about anything.
